**Jay Morgan** is an emerging folk artist, singer, and songwriter originating from Leeds, England. The new artist is set to make waves in the scene with his unparalleled sound and style. Inspired by his life experiences in the streets, Jay Morgan seeks to create music that will inspire people across the globe. From a young age, Jay has been immersed in music, and at times has served as an outlet from the troubles of life. Now, at 38, he is ready to take on this passion and show his talent to the world. The talented musician aims to push the envelope with his sound and bridge various elements from different genres to make a well-rounded, dynamic style that will intimately connect with his fanbase. Jay Morgan is fuelled by his passion for music, and his willingness to transmit his emotions onto it. With every release, the Leeds-native will have listeners engulfed into the world he creates with his strong voice, realness, and message-heavy lyricism. Jay Morgan is an artist to keep an eye on and ear out for as he is set to cement himself in the music industry for years to come. The famed novelist Tom Wolfe, author of The Bonfire of the Vanities, once said one of a young novelist’s biggest mistakes is aiming to relate the story of their lives in a first novel and, too often as a result, leaving nothing left to write about in all-important second novels. It’s unlikely Jay Morgan ever heard Tom Wolfe speak on the subject, but his new release _"Come Back Home"_ illustrates that it’s already internalized within him. This song probs the micro rather than the macro – no rousing anthems of national pride, no solemn politically-themed protests. Jay focuses on people’s lives, what happens to them along the way and, moreover, delivers those narratives to his listeners crouched within concise, melodically appealing musical vehicles. _Come Back Home_  is a clever song with a propulsive rhythm section attack and sharp, energetic vocals. **We decided to catch up with Jay Morgan for an exclusive interview with Camden Monthly..** What inspired you to get into music? In terms of what inspired me to get into music. I have always love singing and I find it comforting and it just takes my mind away from all the hurt and pain I've suffered throughout the years but to be honest I just live for music I love how it makes you feel and it is mostly a passion and a gift to be to share my voice to the world. ** How would you describe your music?** My music is hard hitting and powerful with a story behind the lyrics. it takes you on a journey from beginning to end. ** What would you say is your recording and song writing style?** I would describe it as careful wording with a good sense of direction and a powerful meaning. ** Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?** I'd love to be noticed as a professional recording artist with a fantastic genre of songs and making a career in what I love to do. getting a major label to believe in my music and get signed is a dream at the minute but I will consider my music will change that in time.. ** Where can music fans listen your music?** So music fans can listen to my music everywhere. Fair play to the lad for chasing his dream. It is a tough industry to break into but if he has the songwriting ability he claims, he might just manage to make a decent career out of it.

I have not heard of him yet but I will definitely look him up on Spotify this evening. It is about time we had some fresh voices coming out of the city.

I hope he keeps his Leeds roots in his lyrics. Folk music is at its best when it reflects the actual experiences of people living in Northern cities today.

Does the world really need another folk singer though? The Leeds music scene has always been brilliant but I worry this new sound might be a bit too derivative of what we have seen before.

It is always lovely to see home-grown talent getting some recognition. I remember hearing him play at a small open mic night in Headingley a few years back and he has certainly come a long way since then.
