What inspired you to get into music?
My inspiration to get into music was a gradual transformation process for me. I went through some tragedies in life that started me on my journey to express myself through words. I write from experiences in life. Some of my toughest trials in life have given birth to my most inspiring songs. I was in a terrible accident as a child and was in a coma for 4 months, when I woke up I had amnesia, scaring on my body and the doctors told my mother that I would never walk again. Over the years I relearned to walk again and found an outlet in writing. I had so many questions about why did I have to go through this tragedy? But many of those questions I could not ask anyone. So I started to journal, writing poetry, and short stories, then one night I just started hearing words with melodies in my head and my songwriting passion ignited. I was just trying to make sense of life with words. It has been part of my healing journey and I wanted to share my writing with the world. I would describe my style as Indie Pop/Contemporary R&B/Inspirational. I also have some club and instrumental music published.
What would you say is your recording and songwriting style?
My recording and songwriting style is storytelling. I’m relaxed and at home in the studio and on stage. My songwriting I take serious. I do not like to string along meaningless words. It has to matter and inspire or I won’t write about it. My songwriting style is serious, thought-provoking, and tells a story of encouragement, overcoming challenges and even fun and playful at times but with a deep message. I’m not always serious, I like to have fun to and share that joy. My music style is mature, deep and thought-provoking in nature. I’m a deep thinker and I think a lot. I always have questions. I ask why, how, or why not all the time. I am also a serious reader. I read to learn not to just past the time away. Just passing the time away, is wasting time. I don’t like wasting time. I believe in learning something new every day. That’s the way I continue growing and maturing as a person. It also gives me even more inspiration for new material. I believe writer’s block comes because people stopped asking questions or experiencing new things.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years’ time?
