Matt Clark is singer/songwriter that makes music which is pure anchored around setting the bar sky high. Listening to “Hold You Tight” one of his singles on Spotify, you discover that It has a traditional structure, but Matt phrases the lyrics in his own distinctive way and his slide playing balances fidelity to the form with obvious individuality.
“Baby Blue” has a bit of a rock edge in the way it alternates approaches, pushing on the listeners only to pull back at key moments, and these dynamics are critical in making this performance work. I love the dirt and gravel in Matt’s voice, but he never lays it on too thick. It reeks of sincerity and he throws himself into the singing with obvious emotion.
The juxtaposition of “Fools Gold” is one of the more interesting tandems with the accompanying instruments doing much more than hitting their marks. His vocal is another highlight of the tune – he doesn’t treat these words lightly, but nor does he drown in histrionics that might make the song seem closer to parody than a real expression of grief.
We decided to catch up with Matt Clark for an interview to discover the personality behind the talent
What inspired you to get into music?
I was inspired to get into music by listening to Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, and Polo G. Their lyrics and the messages they send in their music touched me and made me feel that i could do the same. I have always been in love with music and decided I could put out messages that other people would relate to.
How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as a vessel of emotion that people can grab onto and connect with because they too have felt that way.
What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
When i write music, I freestyle over instrumentals until i find myself with something i like, then I go back and tweak some lyrics to make it exactly what I pictured in my head.
Where can music fans listen your music?
My music can be found on every platform available.
