DSB n Ike Okani is a Las Vegas-based electronic dance music project composed of DJ Donut Shop Boi (DSB) and DJ, record producer and songwriter Ike Okani.
What inspired you to get into music?
DSB: I actually never got into music. It’s the other way round. Music got into me.
IKE OKANI: Life, generally. Music has always been there for me, from the beginning. To me, music is the heartbeat of life, of the world. Music….is love, and living.
How would you describe your music?
DSB: Our music is mostly electronic dance music. We both like the different genres and sub-genres of dance music.
IKE OKANI: Yeah, we pretty much love to work on different styles of music…but the ones that people can dance to, that’s what we prefer to make. At least most of the time.
What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
DSB:I used to do some production work…but nowadays, we’ve decided to share the duties. I let Ike do most of the writing, but its gotta be what we agree on. I gotta feel it too, especially if I have to spin it.
IKE OKANI: I basically work with logic pro. Most of the time. With songwriting, I try to keep it simple and memorable. But I didn’t write our latest track, “Limerick Sky”. It was written by Gilbert Okany of Gilok Music UK. He played me the demo, I loved it and I knew right then that we had to do it.
Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years?
DSB: World domination.
IKE OKANI: Hmmm…..time will tell.
